Waffles

You can't go wrong with a true Belgian waffle - note that they are much thinner than the ones called that in other parts of the world!  Our favorite (the first two pictures are actually of our last waffle on our last day in Brussels...) was with chocolate and cream! 

Wallonia

Wallonia is the French speaking southern part of the country - we lived in Flanders (Flemish speaking) just north of the border between the two main language areas.

Waterloo

A commune just south of Brussels in French speaking Wallonia - home to many people we knew there and to that famous Battle of 1815 that put an end to Napoleon's era.

Whitloof

Another veggie grown in Belgium - whitloof is also known as chicory.  Quite tasty when fixed well, quite not tasty when not...
